New York & Company Store Card Pros & Cons

No membership fees

Qualify with fair credit

High regular APR

New York & Company Store Card Review

3.6 / 5

  • No Initial Bonus. The best store credit cards offer 15% to 30% off your first purchase. The New York & Company Credit Card doesn’t offer any initial bonus or discounts on your first purchase. This may be a drawback if you frequently shop at various stores and expect an immediate discount when applying for a credit card.
  • Attractive ongoing rewards. The NY&Co Credit Card has this part of the rewards equation down, offering $10 in store credit for every $200 you spend. That’s the equivalent of 5% cash back, which is nearly five times what the average rewards card will give you, according to WalletHub research.

  • Special perks for VIP cardmembers. If you spend at least $400 per calendar year at New York & Company, your regular earning rate will jump to 10% back. You shouldn’t go overboard just to meet that threshold, but these are nice bonuses for folks who already do.

  • Free shipping…sometimes. If you regularly buy things from nyandcompany.com and pay shipping fees in the process, the fact that the NY&Co Credit Card scores you free standard shipping might seem like reason enough to apply. Don’t get carried away, though, because there’s a catch. Free shipping isn’t always available. Instead, it’s offered “periodically through the year,” according to the card’s terms and conditions. So you shouldn’t rely on this particular feature for consistent savings.

  • No annual fee, but a lofty APR. Hardly any store cards charge annual fees, so this doesn’t really distinguish the NY & Company Credit Card either positively or negatively. It might make opening a credit card just for purchases at a single retailer a bit easier to justify, though. With that being said, the NY&C Credit Card could still prove quite expensive if you don’t pay your bill in full each month, as it has a lofty APR, that’s above even the average for a store card (30.54%).

  • You need fair credit or better. You should be able to qualify for the New York & Company Credit Card if your credit score is classified as “fair” or better. You can check your score for free on WalletHub to get a sense of your odds.

Is ruining my credit by stating inaccurate information about a late payment which did not exist. Any company that reports inaccurate information damaging customers' credit history, should be a CLOSED business.
